Raising the Bar Cover

There it is, guys: the cover of my forthcoming book, Raising the Bar: The Definitive Guide to Pull-up Bar Calisthenics (click the image to enlarge it).

The release date of the book is still to be determined, but I expect it will be available in the next several weeks. I’m currently working with the guys at Dragon Door to finish up the interior design of the book. I can’t wait for you guys to see this thing! I will let you know when an exact release date is set.

In other news, my first book, We’re Working Out! A Zen Approach to Everyday Fitness is now available in Kindle format from Fitedia. You can use the drop down menu on their product page to select a variety of e-book formats.

If you want a paper copy of We’re Working Out!, I recommend you order one soon. I only have about 100 copies left in my inventory and once those sell out, the only way to get the book will be as an electronic download.

    In your book will dip training be done on the pull up bar?

      This book goes over many different dip variations including straight bar as well as parallel bar versions.

    Very excited to see what is inside….Is it going to be similar format to CC where there are progressions?  I have been practicing my hand balancing getting ready for this!

      It will be a similar format to CC, but not exactly the same.  The progressions in RTB aren’t as linear as the CC progressions.  My program leaves a lot of personal freedom to do what you want with it.

    I’m interested in training methods (eg. do x% of your max pullups, then rest for 2 minutes, then go to pushups … etc). Do you cover such training methods in your book?

      Raising the Bar will include a few sample routines as well as a “make your own workout” section.  The focus of the book, however, is on the exercises themselves, not the amount of time you should be resting between sets.

      Thanks, Mark!  I’m honestly not sure about the answers to your questions though.  I would hope the paper book is available internationally, but that is up to the folks at Dragon Door.

    Proud to report I finally got to 3 sets of 10 on my Australian pull ups, palms facing me and away (6 sets total)!!!  Those last few reps are tough but I think in about a week I’ll try to move on to a regular pull up!
    CHomping at the bit for this new book Al… releasing it this month I hope? 🙂
